  salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah;

Does anyone have evidence/proof of the validity of someone entering the masjid late for a congregational salat, and being of the opinion that standing alone, by himself, that if there is no room to join the existing row, that he may go to the front of the masjid and stand beside/along side the imam?

I am aware of the fatwa of shaikh al-albani [rahimahullah], that a person standing alone, prayer is valid {al-Hasan al-Basri, Al-Awza'i, Malik, al-Shafi'i & Abu Hanifah - rahimahumullah}, if the conditions exist that he cannot squeeze into the existing row - per Shaikh al-Albani -rahimullah]. There is another existing fatwa that a person praying alone, prayer is not valid {al-Nakha'i, al-Hasan b. Salih, Ahmad, Ishaq, Hammad, Ibn Abi Laila & Waki' {rahimahumullah}.

But the question remains of someone going to the front of the masjid and standing beside the imam - because there was no one to join him in a row?

  salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah;

since Posting this, I have spoken with 2 brothers and one referred me to 'al-Lajnah al-daa'imah - fatawaa shaykh15/193" and the other simply verified the practice of "standing beside the imam" but he added that one who practices this should not look down upon those who may pray alone in a row by himself, because this too is verified by the scholars.
