When listening to a cassette tape recorded a year or two ago in which a shaikh prays to Allaah, should I make Ta'min (saying: "Amaen")?

Answer by Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta`:

quote:
Du'aa (supplication) and Ta`meen after a shaikh's supplication is 'Ibadah (worship). It is prescribed to make Ta'meen after someone's supplication when actually present.

As for tape-recorded Du'aa, it is not prescribed to make Ta'meen after it, as a recorded Du'aa is virtual - not real.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet, his family and Companions!

For the fatwah, click on the headline, or here. And if you are directed away from the correspondng link, then go to the homepage, locate "Simplified Fiqh," and then click on Invocations; it is - at this moment - the 25th question.

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.
