Asalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh, There is a sahih hadith (I think it's in Bukhari or it may be a Qudsi hadith) which tells us that Allah created mercy, then kept 99 parts for Himself ta'aala and put 1 part in His Creation. Now, how do we understand this hadith keeping in mind that Allah has names such as Ar-Raheem and Ar-Rahman, and that Allah's attributes are eternal and not created.

wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. We say, "This rain is Allaah's Mercy on us," while rain is created. We also believe that Paradise is Allaah's Mercy that He grants to whomever He wishes, while the Paradise is created. We mean when saying these things that they are manifestations of Allaah's Mercy, or its results within the created realm. Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have Mercy on him) said:
Source: Dar' at-Ta'aarudh (7/261-262) Notice in the second hadeeth mentioned, the hadeeth qudsee collected by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim, that Allaah has said, "You are my Mercy..." and then He affirmed that He is the source of the Mercy and that He is the One who has Mercy, "I have Mercy with you on..." So both kinds of mercy are actually affirmed in that one hadeeth. And Allaah knows best. Moosaa ibn John Richardson ******************** ıııııı ııııı ıııııı ıııı ıı ıı ııı ııı ııı ııııııı ı
